Sandy is a Senior Adviser of Oxford Capital. He contributes broad experience in financial services, management, regulatory affairs and fiduciary responsibility. He is also an independent member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Sandy is an international banking executive with Board level, M&A and advisory experience around the world. In December 2007, he received a CBE in recognition of his services to British business and charitable services and financial institutions. He is a team player who enjoys bringing different views into play and being challenged. He has expertise in nurturing talent and embracing diversity to achieve extraordinary results.
Sandy had a long career with HSBC Banking Group, a leading global institution. He reached the most senior positions, having been CEO of its largest subsidiary in Asia-Pacific and also its largest subsidiary in Latin America. He was later promoted to Chairman of HSBC UK, the group’s largest European subsidiary and was appointed to the main Board of HSBC Holdings. Through these roles, Sandy had broad visibility within the investor and analyst community, as well as with regulators in the UK and in other countries. Since retiring from HSBC Sandy has been chairman of a challenger bank in the UK and was a partner in a private equity firm.
Prior to becoming a banker, Sandy read law at Edinburgh University, taking an LLB. In his spare time he is a keen cyclist, fisherman and golfer on courses around his home near Edinburgh.
